Present -ER/-IR Verbs Activities for Spanish Class

Teaching regular present -ER and -IR verbs like COMER and VIVIR in your Spanish class? Here are some of my favorite activities for helping students understand -ER and -IR verbs in the present tense! Make sure you grab the freebie while you are here! 😍

1. TASK CARDS

These present tense task card sets have 48 different cards with a variety of tasks, not just fill-in-the-blank sentences. Your students will receive a well-rounded review of regular -ER and -IR verbs in el presente. Students will be engaged as they complete various tasks on the included response sheet like conjugating -ER and -IR verbs in the present tense, filling in the blank with the correct present tense form of the -ER and -IR verb in parentheses, rewriting incorrect sentences correctly, writing complete sentences from prompts given, and answering multiple-choice questions about translations of sentences.

3. READING COMPREHENSION MYSTERY PICTURE

Are your Spanish students struggling with reading comprehension and regular present -ER and -IR verbs? You need this no-prep digital mystery picture! Looking for a super fun, NO PREP activity to review regular -ER and -IR verbs in the present tense with your Spanish students? Play these Jeopardy-style trivia games with them! Students will be engaged as they work in teams to answer questions in the following categories: Conjugation, Fill in the Blank, ¿Dónde Está el Error?, Translation, and Un Poco de Todo. In addition to the traditional point value questions that start at $100 and get increasingly more difficult as students work their way up to the $500 questions, there is also a fun ‘Make a Wager’ bonus option for each category that is like Final Jeopardy. Only regular -ER and -IR verbs are included in these games.

6. GOOGLE SLIDES

These digital task cards for Google Slides are for anyone looking to reinforce students’ understanding of regular -ER and -IR verbs in the present tense with a ton of great practice. 8. CUCHARAS GAMES

Reinforce present tense -ER and -IR verb endings in Spanish with these fun games of Cucharas or Spoons. Students love collecting all the conjugations of an -ER or -IR verbs in the present tense and racing to grab the spoons! This is a great way to get students engaged and focused on the details of present tense verb endings! There is an included extension activity that has students writing and speaking with the verbs after each round.

OBJECTIVE: Collect all seven cards for one verb (infinitive + all six forms- for example: CORRER, CORRO, CORRES, CORRE, CORREMOS, CORRÉIS y CORREN) and/or not be the person left without a spoon!

9. PRINTABLE SUB PLANS

These no-prep printable activities for present -ER and -IR verbs are for anyone looking to improve their Spanish students’ reading comprehension skills. There are three print-and-go activities to go along with the comprehensible reading passage for you to choose from: task cards, a crossword puzzle, and worksheets.
