See below for a list of free distance learning websites and ideas for Spanish teachers.
It is hard for me to put into words what I am feeling right now. Along with being a teacher, I’m a mom, a daughter, and a granddaughter. My mind is on the health and safety of my loved ones. The last thing I want to be thinking about right now is lesson planning. That is not where my heart is. I have a feeling I am not alone. Below is a list I have compiled of FREE resources and ideas for distance learning. I hope they help you plan for the weeks ahead so you can get back to what’s important, staying safe and caring for each other.
1. CHOICE BOARD
This amazing choice board from @lasaladelsenor is AMAZING (so is @lasaladelsenor– go follow him!). Students can work their way through the board in any order they would like, so long as they complete all the activities. If you would like to edit this choice board to suit your own needs, click HERE to get the Google Slides version. You will need to make a copy as it is currently in VIEW ONLY mode.
Here’s an example that a teacher, Sra. Wood, made for a Spanish 2 class.
2. FREE DIGITAL TASK CARDS FROM LA PROFE PLOTTS
Grab FREE digital task cards (Boom Cards) for regular verbs in the present tense, numbers 1-20 in Spanish, and Spanish family vocabulary from La Profe Plotts! Boom Cards are an interactive, fun way for your students to practice Spanish in a digital format. They are self-checking, self-grading, no prep, AND give you data as students complete the deck. Boom Cards work on smart boards, computers, tablets, and other mobile devices and can be used easily with Google Classroom and Seesaw. Perfect for distance learning!

A free website for interactive digital worksheets. You can even attach videos! Click HERE to visit the website and get started creating worksheets or search the hundreds that are already made.
Prop tip from a Wizer user: “The first login is weird because it comes up with an error message. Just open the website in a new tab and you’re good to go,”.
Teachers get Kahoot! Premium for free right now. Kahoot! is offering free access to all features to support distance learning in schools affected by the coronavirus outbreak. Click HERE to sign up.

20. PULSERA PROJECT
Pulsera Project has some ready-made distance learning activities!
Free lesson plans for things like a video shot in Madrid, famous monarchs in history, and an online tour of La Alhambra de Granada. Click HERE to visit the website.
Audible says, “For as long as schools are closed, we’re open. Starting today, kids everywhere can instantly stream an incredible collection of stories including titles across six different languages, that will help them continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids. All stories are free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone, or table.” Click HERE to start listening.
Rockalingua, the widely popular website that teaches Spanish through music, is offering free Spanish classes three days a week. Recordings of the classes are available on the website.
26. Machu Picchu Virtual Tour
Carved out of two peaks, Machu Picchu (which means “Old Mountain” in Quechua) is believed by archaeologists to be the estate of the Inca emperor Pachacuti. It represents the height of the Inca Empire’s power before it was abandoned following the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors.
If you can’t make the four-day adventure hike up the famous Inca trail in person (or take the shuttle bus like daytrippers), have a look around “The Citadel” via this 360-degree tour. Assisted by an audio guide, you can see Machu Picchu’s steep slopes and the remnants of royal residences, the sacred district that includes the famous Temple of the Sun, and courtyards with grazing alpacas and llamas on the lawns.
Flangoo is a subscription service to a library of digital Spanish readers and stories. Readers can be accessed from phones, tablets, and computers. Flangoo is offering free 60 day trials. Click HERE to visit the site.
Canva for Education is a free graphic design program. It says it is the go-to platform for project-based learning. “Engage your students in rich and authentic learning experiences that reflect the challenges they’ll face in the real world. Our intuitive, drag-and-drop tools make visual communication easy, so students can spend more time interacting and responding effectively to their learning. Canva is optimized for Chromebook and fully cross-platform.”

29. DIGITAL MYSTERY PICTURES
Looking for a fun and festive Spanish Christmas activity for your students to help your students with regular present tense verbs this holiday season? Check out this engaging, easy-to-grade digital mystery picture activity! Students will get a ton of practice conjugating regular present tense verbs. Best part? This activity is self-checking! If a student’s answer is correct, part of the Christmasy hidden picture will be revealed. If a student’s answer is incorrect, the picture will not change. That lets the student know he/she needs to try again. The instant feedback really helps students improve their skills! Click HERE to grab it!
